Brand launches nationwide team member physical wellbeing challenge, ‘Let’s Tri Together’

DALLAS, Feb. 16, 2016 – Chili’s® Grill & Bar, often recognized for providing a great work environment, is going the extra mile this year to help team members nationwide meet their physical wellbeing goals by launching a new internal program – Let’s Tri Together. To kickoff this initiative, Chili’s is sponsoring seven-time IRONMAN® champion Chris “Big Sexy” McDonald. The triathlete will join Wyman Roberts, CEO and President of Brinker International, to personally motivate team members throughout their fitness journey this year.

Team members will use a social exercise app to stay connected, communicate, track progress and get tips from Chris and Wyman. As part of the year-long challenge, the Chili’s team will participate in local races and workout sessions.

“Wellbeing is a key part of our Chili’s culture and Let’s Tri Together is a way to inspire and motivate team members to reach their goals while providing a network of support along the way,” said Wyman Roberts, CEO and President of Brinker International and President of Chili’s Grill & Bar. “Chris McDonald was handpicked for this initiative because his incredible personal story of how he overcame his weight issues touches and inspires people regardless of where they are in their wellbeing journey.”

Chris is known as “Big Sexy” in the triathlon community because he went from being an overweight baker to a professional triathlete. To date, Chris has competed in 48 IRONMANs and took home the top prize in seven of those races.

“I’m excited to work with such an amazing group across the nation,” said Chris McDonald, founder of Big Sexy Racing. “The opportunity to play a part in someone else’s journey is what motivates me and I’m honored I get to share my story and tips to help ChiliHeads achieve their 2016 goals.”

"In full transparency, BSR is both my client and my coach. That being said, there is no denying the results. Chris McDonald and the team at Big Sexy Racing are transforming this 40+ husband, dad and entrepreneur into a real contender. I gave the mandate to Chris that I want to get to Kona and I'm fully confident that he's going to deliver. We don't get caught up in all of the minutiae of the data, but I know that it's all there embedded in my plan. The BSRX prescription is clear, adaptive and fits my busy schedule like a glove. The work is hard, trust me, but the rewards are worth every drop of blood, sweat and tears! "

"When I began I was a middle of the pack athlete, with an IM best of just over 11 hours and a HIM best of 5:08. Over the previous two years we’ve worked together and had a lot of fun, but also had some great results. I’ve been able to take my IM time to under 9 hours and record a HIM PB of 4:15 on a hilly course!"
